Meet Wendy Argueta, Indianapolis Biomedical Technician

Good afternoon! Our #FunFridayIntro starts in the Midwest with our very own Wendy Argueta. She was born and raised in the Indianapolis area and is proud to call herself a Hoosier. Wendy is a Certified Biomedical Technician “BMET” and a graduate of Vincennes University. She is also certified through the International Society of Certified Electronics Technicians. She has over ten years of experience in the biomedical industry and worked for Indiana University Health and the Eli Lilly & Company, the two top establishments in the area. Wendy is a self-proclaimed “nerd” and loves to figure out how things work, which makes her an expert diagnostician and medical repair guru. She loves the industry, especially the continuous learning aspect of being a Biomed.

Wendy is married with two precious and active toddler boys that keep her very busy. When she does have free time, she loves to spend it in and on the water. Fun Fact: She loves cliff jumping.

Wendy is factory certified on the most common equipment found in medical offices including autoclaves/sterilizers but her “specialty” is lab equipment such as microscopes, hplc, histology equipment, incubators, centrifuge, and analyzers. She has been certified on Midmark/Ritter M9 & M11 autoclave/sterilizers, beds/tables, SciCan Dental, Tuttnauer autoclaves/sterilizers, Rocky Mountain Microscope institute (microscope repairs), Sakura Finetek USA, DITEC, and Immunocap 250 Service Training. She also has Ultrasound training on GE and Philips models.

Wendy’s job duties include making sure that Edge Biomedical’s customers stay up-to-date with Federal regulatory requirements and have a comprehensive inspection plan for all of their medical devices. Any medical device that comes in contact with a patient requires annual electrical safety testing per NFPA99 at a minimum, with some of the life-saving devices requiring semi-annual testing. OSHA, EPA and the FDA have related requirements necessitating medical equipment safety checks.

Edge’s Biomedical Technicians “BMET” will come on site, perform a full inventory, tag each medical device with an asset ID, complete the required annual electrical safety inspection, calibrate, performance test, and complete a full Preventative Maintenance (PM) per the manufacturer standards/requirements. Edge performs equipment repairs as well. All of this ensures that our customers have equipment that is calibrated accurately and preventative maintenance can extend the life-cycle of their most expensive asset, the equipment.
