Healthcare System Saves $2 Million Per Year by Outsourcing Biomed

Edge is increasingly asked about supplementing hospital biomed departments when there are large projects that require the in-house biomed technicians to be drawn away from their daily responsibilities. There are also times where Edge technicians can cover for an employee on vacation or while a position is being filled. In many cases, hospitals find that outsourcing the entire department to an operator like GE Healthcare, Trimedx or Crothall makes the most sense from a management standpoint, but also a financial one. In the case of CHRISTUS Hospital in Houston, TX, they found that outsourcing the clinical engineering department saved them $2M per year. In an industry that is focused on containing costs while providing the best possible patient care, those funds can be reallocated to any number of areas in need.

Edge Biomedical now manages approximately 2,000 facilities and over 65,000 pieces of equipment in 38 states.
